Rides and Events

Good information

Check this page often for updated listings of all types of cycling events in and around our area. Rides require, at minimum, an appropriate bike in good working order, water, and a helmet. We suggest a spare tube, energy food, maybe a little cash in case we stop, and your committment to ride as a safe, sane member of the group. As many rides are subject to weather, it's a good idea to also confirm dates, time and any specific requirements. We'll see you out there having fun!

A 60 Mile Training Road Ride –Average 19-20 MPH will start at 8:30 and 40 Mile Road Ride-Average 15-17 mph will also start at 8:30. An 18 Mile Fun Ride (Leisure Fitness) No one left behind, will start at 9:30 An Intro to Youth Mountain Biking (NICA) will start at 9:45. 8th Annual Spokes for Strokes

Start at Baptist Health Paducah in the imaging center parking Lot (8 AM) Corner of 28th and Kentucky Ave

BikeWorld is once again partnering with Baptist Health Paducah to raise money to benefit the Stroke Education Program, raising awareness for stroke, raising funds to invest in life-saving technologies and expanded stroke care services. 4 routes, all with well stocked rest areas.65 miles with rolling hills, six rest stops; 35 miles, four rest stops; 20 miles. 2 rest stops,10 miles, flatter terrain, 1 rest stop. This is not a race. Marked roads, maps and SAG support. Event begins and ends at Baptist Health Imaging Center. T shirts available. Helmets required. Reduced family rates. White Lightning Canal Loop XC Mountain Bike Race

North Welcome Station, LBL, Grand Rivers, KY

XC Mountain Bike Race The Canal Loop, Land Between the Lakes, Grand Rivers, KY **Online Registration will be available soon at usacycling.org!** This race is included in the Tennessee Bicycle Racing Association. The Canal Loop is 95% singletrack. It contains dense wooded areas, rolling hills, and rocky climbs. It is a moderate course, with a several optional technical sections for advanced riders. Approx. 1000 feet of elevation change. Starting at the North Welcome Station, you will race north on the Lake Barkley side first, cross under the Bridge at the Canal, and proceed south down the Kentucky Lake side. Once you reach the North Welcome Station you will either continue to your next lap, or finish. Course Length: 11.6 miles/lap Online registration will be available soon! Online registrants will receive $10 off from race day price. Leadership by Bike Camp

6/10-6/14, 2019 Mon-Fri 9 AM-4:30 PM Ages 12-16 $150.00 Includes all expenses (Lunches, snacks, entries to attractions & events) Some scholarships available. Equipment needed: Geared bicycle with at least 24" wheels, preferably 26", 27" or 700c, and a helmet. Campers may provide their own or rent a bicycle and helmet for the week ($75.) If there is any doubt about the suitableness of a bicycle rental should be seriously considered. Rental bikes & helmets are well maintained and correctly sized. Each camper's equipment must be approved at BikeWorld before the first day of camp. Goals are for campers to develop their bicycle handling skills, learn bike safety, rules of the road & hand signals; learn to use bike commuting to get places; understand the importance of equipment care and some basic bike maintenance; improve confidence; increase pleasure in being physically active; work cooperatively in a caring environment; build positive relationships w/campers & leaders.

Moonlight Bike Ride

6th Annual Moonlight Ride Bike Ride 8 PM Music, late registration & booths open. Ride starts at 10 PM. "Midsummer's Night Ride In the Moonlight!" Easy "ride at-your-pace" along marked streets. All ages and shapes of people on all kinds of bicycles on a summer night. It's a memory making event. Start and finish at BikeWorld, 809 Joe Clifton Drive. 10 miles through low trafficked Paducah city streets. Bikes should have front and rear lights to legally be on the street after dark, but creative lighting of all kinds is also encouraged. Helmets required. All proceeds benefit PCM, (Paducah Cooperative Ministry) food bank, homeless shelter and aid to folks in drastic situations. Those who register by July 6th, 2019 will be rewarded with a free souvenir tee shirt. Misaligned Minds 100 Bicycle Tour

Noble Park, 2915 Park Ave, Paducah, KY 8 AM

Named by Bicycling magazine as of one of the best one-day bicycle tours in the country, the Misaligned Misaligned Minds features rides of 25, 40, 65 & 100 miles. Riders pedal through little traveled western Kentucky farm roads, past fields being harvested and wide expanses of grazing livestock and green countryside. The routes are some of the most well marked you'll find. The rest areas are plentiful and well stocked. SAG vehicles driven by helpful, conscientious support staff.

FLAT. Meet & park behind the Walker Stone Building (old Higdon Discount Furniture) 4345 Cairo Rd. Paducah. From I-24: Take Exit 3. Turn East (toward Paducah). Go 1 mile to the building on the left. There is a choice for almost any rider who is on an adult sized bike. On the easiest ride, the leader rides with the slowest person and brings up the rear. Ride for 75 minutes.There is several other choices: Ride 20 miles at 14-16 mph or 20 miles at 16-18 mph; 30 miles at 16-18 mph, 30 miles at 18-20 mph too, and usually an EF group (extremely fast) Hang on if you can, and know the route because no one will wait for you on this choice. .

2 Rides. The Cruiser Ride leaves from BikeWorld the first 3 Tuesdays of each month & the 4th Tuesday, leaves from McCracken County Library, 7th and Washington St. The Road Training Ride. Begins and ends at BikeWorld. The Cruiser Ride is the most laid-back, social, fun of the week and a great opportunity to have company when you tool around town, a perfect learning opportunity for someone just getting into bicycling or anyone who wants conversation and sightseeing. Sometimes in summer this ride even involves an ice cream stop! The Cruiser Rides calls for lights. The Road Rides are usually 25 miles (20 miles - 28 miles). Depending on whoever shows up, riders may elect to regroup, usually a good interval training ride for stronger riders but mostly averaging less than 20 mph.

Begins & ends English Sewing Machine store, 7010 US-68, Paducah, KY 42003 (Off exit 16.) Two routes available - Coal Mountain, 20, 28 or 30 mile routes, mostly flat to rolling. Also a new modified Elva Loop, 20 miles of rolling hills.These are rolling to hilly rides which some regulars use as their fastest, hardest workout of the week, but there is a less intense group that doesn't drop anyone.

The Jailbreak. Meet in the parking lot of the McCracken County Courthouse, 7th and Washington Street. Usually a flat more relaxed, but fitness 14 or a 18 or 22 with rolling hills at a 16/18 mph 1(8 mile route with a group leader) Sometimes an EF (extremely fast) 20 mph+ group.
