I love the bike especially for the price! i do a lot of trail riding, been great with roots, rocks, logs, etc. At first i thought the bike would break being too rough on it, but its holding up awesome! i had trouble with the pedals and screws always came undone, but they were just stock pedals, so i upgraded a couple of things. My friend actually liked my bike enough that he bought the exact same one, same color too which wasn't cool. The blue paint looks the best! Great ride, highly would recommend!

Picked up this bike from my LBS here in town. The guys there are very knowledgeable and have a great selection of bikes to choose from. I chose the 2013 Wahoo, and could not be happier. It's an outstanding bike. Trek has made a few upgrades from 2012 (thicker handle bar, different peddles, wheels are double walled now, etc…) but the other components remained the same. Within an hour of owning the bike I put down 8 miles on some sweet single-track here in town. This bike rides like a dream. Shifts clean and fast, the 29 inch wheels carry over anything, and everything about this bike just begs to be ridden fast. Plus, it's built to last… what more could you ask for in a 29er hardtail?

I purchased my bike from a a colleague who liked his other bike better and sold me this one. I was planning to purchase another bike, but not of this quality. I was in awe of his willingness to sell it to me. The bike is comfortable, gears are easy...almost instant when changing, lightweight and fast. I look forward to each and every ride! I love this bike!!

The Wahoo was my entrance into real mountain biking. I live in [...] where there is a plethera of steep mountain trails that require a lot of climbing but also have great downhill-sections. Overall the bike handles everything i've thrown at it, whether it be downhill all day or steep single track. This bike was a steal! For the type of singletrack I ride, I did have to upgrade the tires and pedals, both components had no grip. Also, the bike could be a couple lbs. lighter, but it is by no means heavy. Other than that the bike is awesome and I recommend it to anyone looking into getting a 29er hardtail.

    poor quality

Bearings on pedal shot after 1 month, chain skips under pressure and I am replacing my 2nd spoke after 5 months. The tires are like butter and pick up every piece of glass you ride over. I weigh 200 lbs and only ride on streets no off road. I guess this bike not made for a heavy person. My specialized lasted 10 years. Poor quality wish I had never bought.

Replaced 15 year old no-suspension MTB with the Wahoo. Put on about 10 hours so far this year, about 75/25 singletrack/street. I shopped around A LOT before making this purchase. Hit some trees with it, the only thing that happened so far is a bent brake handle, which I was able to simply bend back into position. Front brakes are a little noisy, and so are the derailers when in some of the end gears. You get a lot for your money with this bike. Good cost to value. Couldn't be happier. The only thing I would change is adding about an inch to the end of the handlebars. My knuckles sometimes bang up against the gear shifters on the inside of the handles.

29 inch wheels make a huge difference. This bike gives you a lot of high end features for the price.

Nice bike rides well my problem is after taking the bike back for it's 30 day tune up the service guy said my weight could be a problem with the wheels staying true. My weight is 220 so I would recommend buying the trek marlin for $70 bucks more it has double wall rims which is a more durable bike.

        Comments:

I just got this bike today and after 2-3 hours riding it I have to say that it was totally worth it! I've never been so fast in my life before. I have to say that it felt a little weird to get used to it after a long time riding another bike, but after a few minutes it felt like it was part of my body. It is kind of pricy but you always get what you pay for, and this is absolutely an amazing bike. I would probably improve the hand grips, but other than that it is perfect, nice looking and really fast. Makes going up hills and bridges very easy. One more thing that I noticed: whenever going on a rough terrain, try to stand on the pedals, otherwise you will end up with a butt pain.
