Always put the
heaviest bike closest to the vehicle, and the lightest
bikes furthest away from the vehicle.
Torque=force*distance.
To minimize this, put the heaviest bikes on the
inside.
National Bike Summit
Rep. Ed Whitfield with
BikeWorld's Hutch, Martha, & Chandler
BikeWorld owners Hutch, Martha and Chandler were among
the nearly 600 delegates at the 2009 National Bike
Summit in Washington, DC. Four days of meeting, trading
ideas and comparing notes with bike advocates, planners
and educators from across the country and around the
world! The first keynote speaker was Andreas Rohl, bike
program manager for the city of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Copenhagen- where 36% of people entering the city for
work or school do so on a bicycle, and where 55% of the
city residents bike to work.
Another keynote speaker was Transportation
Secretary Ray LaHood. Sec. LaHood’s speech was
overwhelmingly positive. He proclaimed bike advocates
“have a full partner at the US DOT,” and later wrote in
Congressional Record: “ For the past half-century…the
federal government has ignored mobility within
communities to build the Interstate Highway System to
promote movement around the country. Cyclists are
important users of transportation systems.”

Taylor!! BikeWorld's own Taylor Ladd is
riding into the record books. Taylor has
signed
an athletic scholarship with Lindsey Wilson
College. His sport? Mountain biking, what
else!
Taylor is the first Paducah
Tilghman High School student on record as earning
a bicycling scholarship.
Lucky for all of us who rely on his enthusiasm
and expertise, we'll have him at BikeWorld till
the end of the summer!
