BikeWorld is a complete bicycle
store. It was opened in 1987 by husband and wife, Hutch Smith and
Martha Emmons. They and the enthusiastic BikeWorld team are the
founders, or the benefactors, of nearly every bicycling activity in
Western Kentucky.
The crew includes Chris Starr,
Torey Earle, Taylor Ladd, Jared Wynne,
Seth Moorman, Adam Jones, Justin Wynne and sometimes Carson and Chandler Emmons-Smith. Of course YOU, our loyal
customers, make up the most important part of the BikeWorld
team. You are our best promoters, word of mouth advertisers and
devoted supporters!
At BikeWorld we make it a
point to know you and the kind of riding you do. We're interested
in building a relationship that results in you having fun and
feeling good. We do repairs on all bikes, provide information about
area bicycling, sponsor the Chain Reaction
Cycling Club and act as a liaison to governmental bodies.
We like talking about routes, fitness, equipment, training, safety
and what's going on in your life. We like riding bikes, we like
people and we'd like you to come see us.

Hutch Smith |

According to Hutch, the only time during
his entire childhood when he wasn't on his bike was when he was playing
ball. Baseball, basketball and, he swears, football. One look at
his build and you can see why he gave up the gridiron! Hutch is an
authority on fitness & health, and you don't have to take our word for
it. In addition to running track, cross country and every
intramural sport Bradley University offered, he graduated with a teaching
degree in health & physical education.
Favorite kind of
ride: Road. |

Martha Emmons |
 |
Martha believes bicycling can bring people
together to improve
bodies, minds and communities. She works with city and school leaders promoting safe places
to ride because "neighborhoods where people can bicycle safely are
places where people can live safely." Martha is a
graduate of Morehead State University with a degree in Communications,
Speech and Drama. She is the state
chair of the Kentucky Bikeways and Bicycle Commission, and in her spare
time coaches the Paducah Tilghman High School Speech and Forensics Team. |

Taylor Ladd |

Taylor is the most knowledgeable
young cyclist we know. We haven't yet been come
up with a bicycle or bike equipment question he can't answer.
(Correctly!) In addition, he's putting bicycling into the mindset of students at Paducah Tilghman
High School, where he led the bike club to a second place finish in
the Kentucky High School Mountain Bike Championships in 2006.
Taylor also plays guitar with his church
band. And, if you speak Spanish, use it when you talk to Taylor.
(He doesn't, but he's trying.) |

Torey Earle |
 |
Torey has a double life. By day, and
sometimes by night, he is a mild mannered University of Kentucky 4-H
agent for youth. The rest of the time he's a BikeWorld guy.
All the time he's a "Crazy-about-bicycles-and-fitness" professional.
Torey presents bicycle safety programs to over 500 kids a year.
Sorry ladies, he's married.

Seth Moorman |

Part of the reason Seth probably looks so
familiar to you, is that he's following older brother Andrew's seven years
at BikeWorld.
Seth is all around bicyclist and outdoorsman, an avid SIU fan and
a student at Massac County High School. If you want an honest
opinion, ask Seth. If you want tact too, ask somebody else. |

Justin Wynne |

Yep, it's another brother act. Justin
is the youngest Wynne. He's only recently added bicycling to his
schedule of track, cross country, soccer, baseball and swashbuckling.
Among his many achievements, Justin is an honor student and state award
winner in the Duke University Student Scholar program.

Adam Jones |
  |
Adam has been riding his bike to school
since about kindergarten!
He has a successful record as a competitor in the Paducah Kids Triathlon
and recently added mountain biking to his lists of interests.
He is an honor student, who's becoming a fine mechanic. |

Carson Emmons Smith
(hero version) |
 |
Carson is six months older than BikeWorld.
As soon as she could pedal, she started testing the kids 12" wheel bikes
and changed sizes as she grew. An ardent proponent of physical fitness,
she founded The Paducah Kids Running Club in elementary school. A student at Washington University in St.
Louis, Carson is courageously battling PPH/PVOD, a rare lung condition,
and is listed for a double lung
transplant. Heartfelt thanks to the many caring
persons who continue to keep her in your hearts and prayers! |

Chandler Emmons Smith |
 |
Chandler first developed an appreciation
for good equipment as a nine year old riding the 302 mile, week long
"Touring Ride In Rural Indiana". She is an actress, a triathlete
and a runner. Chan qualified and ran in the KY High School AA Cross Country State
Finals in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Go Chan!
